Wederom waardering van onze klanten in de Legal 500 2025 editie

De nieuwe rankings van Legal 500 zijn bekendgemaakt. Lexence is al jaren voor meerdere rechtsgebieden opgenomen in deze prestigieuze gids. Lees hieronder de quotes en beschrijvingen die Legal 500 dankzij onze referenten en submissies kon formuleren.

BANKING AND FINANCE: BORROWER SIDE TIER 3

Lexence handles both the drafting and negotiation of loan terms and advises on the regulatory aspects of a variety of financing structures, including real estate and acquisition finance. The practice is led by ‘grand seigneur of corporate finance’  Charles Destrée, who specialises in the regulatory frameworks that apply to multi-jurisdictional credit facilities. He is ably supported by Bas Zandvliet, Max de Vreede and Nina Blanke, who advises on real estate and acquisition loans.

CONSTRUCTION TIER 3

Lexence has a notable commercial real estate team which also has experience handling construction matters such as tenders, construction contracts and state aid. Bob Bekker  spearheads the practice from Amsterdam and focuses on real estate transactions and also assists with dispute avoidance. Jan-Willem Raadgever advises developers and construction companies in redevelopment projects and transactions.

EMPLOYMENT TIER 3

At Lexence, key areas of instruction for the employment team include reorganisations, restructurings, collective dismissals and investigations into alleged fraud. Judith Schulp is well versed in representing domestic and international clients in large-scale restructuring cases, and regularly acts as counsel to entities in the security sector concerning the employment conditions of Dutch municipalities. Mark Keuss has established expertise in advising on collective dismissals;  Frank ter Huurne‘s workload includes reorganisation cases; and Floor Damen acts for companies, works councils, directors and other senior management in a range of matters. All named lawyers co-head the practice.

ENVIRONMENT AND PLANNING TIER 3

The planning and environment team at Lexence is adept at advising on contentious and non-contentious environmental planning permission work. Practice head Michael Klijnstra is well known for his expertise in handling advisory and litigious matters involving environmental compliance issues, zoning plans and building permits.

PRIVATE EQUITY TIER 3

Lexence‘s ’excellent and professional’ cohort is experienced assisting with the range of transactions, from sales and transfers of notable value, to strategic acquisitions, often in cross-jurisdictional contexts. Joost Kolkman oversees the group and has noteworthy experience across M&A and private equity transactions. Also at the helm of the practice are Wouter Helder, who acts particularly for large multinational clients; Mathijs van Doormalen; ‘trusted advisor’ Diederick de Boer; and Kevin Beukeveld. Luc Habets departed the team in December 2023.

REAL ESTATE TIER 3

Lexence‘s real estate practice combines the teams experience in tenancy law, real estate development, transactions, public law and construction to advise domestic and international clients. The firm has recently introduced a sustainability team to assist with ESG issues involving leasing law and environmental law. Spearheading the practice, Bas Martens focuses on real estate and area development as well as construction disputes. Tomas Steenmetser retired from practice in 2024, while Michiel de Wit departed the firm in March 2025.

BANKING AND FINANCE: FINANCIAL SERVICES REGULATORY TIER 4

Lexence is well versed in the regulations laid out in the AIFMD regime, advising funds on its transparency and reporting guidelines and handling the regulatory aspects of fund and corporate transactions. The team is headed by Charles Destrée, who combines expertise of fund structuring with a knowledge of the AIFMD, EMIR and SFDR frameworks.

COMMERCIAL, CORPORATE AND M&A TIER 4

Lexence‘s group is well-regarded for its ’expertise and client-first mentality’. Joost Kolkman and Wouter Helder are M&A and private equity experts with experience handling domestic and international matters across the breadth of industry sectors, while Mathijs van Doormalen frequently advises shareholder directors, private equity funds and corporations on the range of matters; the three co-lead the offering. M&A, private equity and venture capital specialist Diederick de Boer is noted as a ‘sharp, quick and practical’ practitioner by clients.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION: COMMERCIAL LITIGATION TIER 4

Lexence combines its expertise in corporate matters with its skills in litigation and arbitration to advise clients on corporate disputes and commercial litigation. Practice head Timo Jansen leads on disputes involving governance and M&A transactions, while fellow co-lead Bram Thomas Craemer centres his practice on commercial disputes and advises corporations, non-profit organisations and individuals. Corporate litigator Willem Smelt was promoted to partner in January 2024 and now also co-leads the team, representing clients in shareholder disputes and enquiry proceedings before the Enterprise Chamber.
