Waterland acquires interest in Nuts Groep

March 16, 2017 – Waterland Private Equity has taken a 50% interest in Nuts Groep, a supplier of electricity and gas to consumers. Nuts Groep is the company behind the brands Budget Energie in the Netherlands and Elegant in Belgium, providing green energy and gas to around 800,000 connection points in these countries. Waterland Private Equity was advised by Lexence in the acquisition of its 50% stake in Nuts Groep.

Nuts Groep specializes in the most efficient purchasing and invoicing of energy. To this end, the company has built a robust administrative organization, in which the largest possible part of the activities is carried out in house. Nuts Group develops the IT systems for the support of its processes itself.

Director and founder Sjef Peeraer: “We expect that the market for energy supply in the Benelux will consolidate in the coming years. That means an opportunity for the Nuts Group to continue to grow and to use our platform for energy purchasing and invoicing more broadly. The involvement of Waterland gives us the strength to realize further growth both organically and through acquisitions.”
