About Michael
Michael Klijnstra specialises in administrative and environmental law. In this capacity, he advises clients on matters such as area development, (inner-city) redevelopment, and urban transformation projects. Michael provides guidance on spatial planning procedures and regularly litigates before the courts and the Council of State. He also handles cases concerning, for example, nature conservation (nitrogen emissions), flora and fauna, noise pollution, soil contamination, environmental activities, enforcement, and public access to government information.
Michael has been with Lexence since 2008. Previously, he worked at the Centre for Environmental Law at the University of Amsterdam, among other positions. He studied public and private law at the University of Groningen and obtained his doctorate in 1998 with a thesis entitled ‘Transparency in Environmental Law’. Michael was admitted to the bar in 1997.
