About Roy

Roy advises and litigates on a broad range of employment law matters, including dismissal law, (collective) terms and conditions of employment, reorganisations, employee participation and transfers of undertaking. He has particular expertise in collective labour law, employee participation law, the formation of employment conditions in consultation with works councils, and dismissal law.

Since 2026, Roy has been associated with Lexence. In 2016, he obtained his Master’s degrees in Private Law and Employment Law from the University of Amsterdam, and in 2024 he was admitted to the Dutch Bar.

Prior to joining Lexence, Roy worked at Loyens & Loeff and was affiliated with the University of Amsterdam as a lecturer and PhD candidate. He obtained his PhD with a dissertation on the functioning and legal design of the Dutch system of collective bargaining and collective employment conditions.

Roy regularly publishes and teaches on employment law topics. He is an author for the legal journals Tijdschrift Recht en Arbeid (TRA) and Rechtspraak Arbeidsrecht (RAR), and a member of the editorial board of the Tijdschrift voor Ontslagrecht (TvO). In addition, he has contributed to various employment law handbooks, including De Ondernemingsraad.
