Jan Hockx graduated from Leiden University in Tax law and (with distinction) in Notarial law. Jan began his career as a deputy civil-law notary at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Rotterdam, where he was part of the property practice. Jan has been working for Lexence since 1999. Jan’s areas of expertise are commercial property development, the redevelopment of town centres and shopping centres, complex divisions of rights in apartment blocks, ownership issues relating to integrated constructions (both above ground and underground), investment transactions and VAT and transfer tax aspects relating to both existing buildings and new buildings. Jan is author of the book “Buying and delivering property” (in Dutch, title Koop en levering van vastgoed); the second edition was published in the autumn of 2006 by Sdu Uitgevers. He is also one of the editors of the Dutch magazine Vastgoed Fiscaal & Civiel (fiscal and civil aspects of property).
