THE LAWS OF LEXENCE

ANGELA VAN BREDA JUNIOR NOTARY CORPORATE & COMMERCIAL

Angela van Breda junior notary Corporate & Commercial Law:

I often joined in on visits to firms while studying Notarial Law at Utrecht University. That way I could get a good idea of what the different firms were like and, in particular, which firms would suit me. At Lexence I had lunch with two members of staff. That was really great. I got to know so much about Lexence and the general atmosphere within the firm. Following the positive experience of this lunch, I decided to apply for a job. I’ve now been working since March 2007 as a junior notary in the Corporate and Commercial Law practice. This department’s activities include restructuring operations and acquisitions. The work we do is incredibly varied. For example, you handle complex cases where lots of different parties are involved but setting up a company is also one of your tasks. I have one supervisor who I can always go to with my questions. I’m pleased about that because good supervision is important if you want to put the theory into practice. This means you do a lot of cases together with your supervisor in the beginning. This gives them a good insight into how you’re developing and they can then help you if you have any problems or something in the case is unclear. You are given more and more responsibility, which means that after a while you are tackling more cases without supervision.
